What are things you love for yourself? Money? Power? Has it ever occurred to you to give back to others what you love for yourself?
Maybe at one point or another you have considered donating money or other material goods. What about donating good values? Kindness, friendship, love, joy and happiness, for example. If each of us were to spread just one such value, consider how much goodness and positivity it would generate.
What are some of the values that you appreciate? Ask yourself: how could you help improve your immediate environment?
Below, I share 3 ways to spread that which you love:
1. Give back through your best qualities.
Your character is unique as your appearance. After you figure out your character strengths, figure out how to hone those strengths through specific and repeated actions. Such skill sets will be your voice to the world, letting you channel your greatness.
Think about what makes you so unique. Perhaps you are funny, so you might attempt to tell a joke every day to make someone laugh. Or perhaps you are organized, and you might help your close cousin reorganize their kitchen. Whatever your strength, work towards improvement and repeated action, in order to deliver your talent to those around you.
2. Share your appreciation with others.
Wouldn’t you love to feel appreciated? So, why not share your own appreciation?
Gratitude is a way to express the impact others can have on you. When you tell someone you appreciate them, or something specific they’ve done, you are opening the door to better quality relationships and enduring love and kindness. Think about the supportive, encouraging and positive people in your life. Then, share your appreciation of those people by sending a thank you-text or hand-written note. You will open the door to a great amount of positivity that can leave you feeling great.
3. Donate a small gesture of kindness, whenever you have the opportunity.
Small acts of kindness can help improve our mood, bring a smile to our face, or better yet make our day. And who doesn’t love feeling better or happier?
Holding a door open for someone, smiling at a familiar face, asking someone how they are doing that day, or simply listening to their response and acknowledging their feelings. These are some of the small gestures of kindness that can bring light into others’ lives when they might need it most. Consider bringing this positivity to your everyday routine. You will feel uplifted, happier, and more connected within your community.
In all, these are three ways you might give out of that which you love. Think about the next time you could give back through your qualities, be appreciative, or simply donate a kind gesture. More likely than not, you will feel the love in return.
