Do you desire greater satisfaction, comfort or joy out of living? In order to bring greater purpose and passion to our lives, we ought to consider living more courageously, or more committedly, often to something greater than ourselves. Perhaps this is commitment to faith, family, friendship, love or all of the above. Living courageously, in part, has us asking more of ourselves rather than being complacent with the routine. Are you looking for a change?
Here are 6 ways to live more courageously:
1. Bring a sense of vision to your everyday routine.
The Dalai Lama says, “In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.” Without vision, we are left feeling incomplete or without direction. Perhaps you want to have a comfortable living or a nice yard. Or perhaps you want to leave people feeling better about themselves and more confident. What kind of vision do you want to behold? Positive actions follow a positive vision. To live courageously, in part, means beholding your vision often and with fortitude.
2. Make amends with difficulties of the past, to appreciate the promise of the future.
When we are not comfortable with past experience, we might run out of gas in the tank. In other words, our ability to appreciate what the future can bring may seem harder. No worries though. When you feel like a distant memory is difficult to let go, think about where you want to go in life. And with your future dreams in mind, pain and heartache can be lessened. Consider the brightness of the future as the healing medicine for the past. You’ll find greater appreciation for what the future can bring.

3. Fill your heart with gratitude.
By filling ourselves with gratitude, our focus becomes positivity, hope, happiness. “The more thankful I become, the more my bounty increased. That’s because—for sure—what you focus on expands. When you focus on the goodness in life, you create more of it,” says Oprah. If you have a reservation on the power of gratitude, the power of positive and hopeful thinking, try it out for yourself. See if it leaves you feeling more courageous and happy.
4. Keep your head in the game.
When you’ve been knocked down, it’s easy to say ‘I can’t’ or ‘It’s too hard.’ Consider, however, it can happen to the best of us. Everyone gets knocked down. When you’re feeling like things are tough or aren’t going your way, remember to keep your head in the game by moving forward. Do what YOU need to do to feel stronger, supported, in touch with loved ones or whatever keeps you moving forward.
5. Be mindful of your ability to reach and lift others.
Your ability to reach and lift others is a particularly valuable skill to be mindful of. Trust in your ability to lend a listening ear, be a caring friend, extend a supportive hand, or anything that makes your relationships that much stronger. You’ll feel waves of friendship, support and happiness in return if you do.
6. Practice kindness and self-confidence to project your strongest self.
If you have to choose, pick kindness when you can. You’ll project a trait that we could all use more of. At the same time, choose self-confidence in order to unveil your most promising talents and strengths to the world. You’ll be an unstoppable force should you choose kindness and self-confidence, without a doubt.
Now that you have 6 ways to live more courageously, you’ve likely asked for more out of life (and from yourself) to make you more feel more purposeful! How fantastic! Keep on hoping big!
